Preparing for your session
So you have booked in your session, whats next?
Included in my packages are locations within 20 minutes travel distance from Ormeau! I am willing to travel to further locations – however this may incur a travel fee from $50.
Are you wanting a documentary style in home “lifestyle” session, Home Studio Session or an outdoor location.
Young babies and newborns are always best indoors where it’s out of the weather. However newborn sessions can definitely still be done outdoors – they would just be more snuggled in your arms. For in home sessions its best to choose 1-2 locations in your home which are next to a large window to let in as much natural light as possible. I recommend keeping bedding and decor neutral and simple to it doesn’t take the attention in your images – this is something I can help with either before, or during your session. I can also bring along a king size blanket (white/beige) that we can pop on your bed or lounge to brighten spaces too.
My studio space is set up as a lifestyle home space in modern and neutral tones for your sessions also.
Newborn sessions are usually held on weekends and some weekdays. I usually allow for 2 sessions – one starting approx. 9am and the second session time around 1pm.
If you are thinking an outdoor location – what kind of outdoor location?! On the Gold Coast we have many stunning locations. From grassy fields, to beaches, dirt roads etc. You may have seen images on my page that you love the location of. We can chat and find the perfect spot for you. I love to shoot during Golden Hour for my outdoor sessions starting an hour prior to sunset. This time will change throughout the seasons – earlier during the winter months and later during the summer months.

I love to shoot during Golden Hour for my outdoor sessions starting an hour prior to sunset. This time will change throughout the seasons – earlier during the winter months and later during the summer months. (Starting times range between 4pm – 5.30pm pending the season). If it is looking very overcast – I may opt to bring your session time forward a little so its not too dark.
Sunrise sessions will begin around 30 minutes before sunrise!
I also recommend arriving a little early – especially if you need to get changed or try different outfits.
If you are wearing your own outfits, you will need to bring these. I also recommend bringing a few of your children favouring “small” toys, some small treats or snacks (sultanas and yogurt drops are amazing) or even a basket to collect treasures. You can bring anything you would like in your images. I also recommend bringing along water bottles as it can get exhausting after an hour of running around! Don’t forget towels and a change of outfits if your session is at a beach location.
- I will bring any client wardrobe outfits as discussed prior to our session.
- I will also bring any blankets/assessories for newborn sessions. For newborn/baby sessions outdoors I will also bring a moses basket. Indoors I bring a snuggle lounger.
- I will bring bubbles / squeaky toys / lollipops to use if the kiddies need a little encouragement. (You are welcome to say NO to the lollipop!)
- A picnic blanket to all outdoor sessions – I have a few options if you want to request a specific one or I just bring which I feel will best suit.
- BUG SPRAY! I will have this on me if you would like to use.
- Hand Sanitiser!
Your wardrobe is full of beautiful clothes, yet struggling to choose what to wear for your session.. sound familiar?!
Selecting clothing that co ordinate, but don’t match is the best option. Don’t choose anything too “neon” or bright in colour, bold prints, patterns and writing on the clothing as this can take away from your images. I include styling advice for your clothing as part of all of my sessions.
If you are looking to purchase some clothing for your session, there are many shops that offer beautiful and affordable options. Some shops I love are Feather and Noise, Runway Scout, Bohemian Traders, The Self Styler, Maive and Bo, Coven and Co, Peachy Mama, Target, Kmart, Two Darlings and Best and Less just to name a few!
I also have a number of dresses, blankets and props available for you to use and wear for your session. (I will pop some images below of my dresses available for your use). The dresses I have range in sizing and most are bump and breastfeeding friendly. Plus a number of flower crowns (for both mum, child and baby), bonnets, booties, blankets, swaddles, announcement plaques and much more available for you to use.
Just let me know if you are interested in advance so I can have these ready prior to your session.
The joys of starting a photography business during 2020’s global pandemic come with a few extra health measures to keep you and your families safe. (As well as the health of myself and my own family.)
First of all, if you or anyone in your household is unwell with ANY kind of illness (or has been unwell in the 7 days leading up to your session) please contact me to reschedule. This includes anything from Colds/Flu/Gastro/Vomiting etc). I am more than happy to book you in at a later date with no additional cost. This will go both ways if myself of anyone in my home has been unwell. I work with a lot of new babies and clients that are immunocompromised – so keeping everyone safe and healthy is very important to me. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
I am and will continue to be up to date with the current vaccinations to keep you and your little ones safe – this includes whooping cough, annual flu vaccine and the Covid19 vaccine.
For studio sessions – this space will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised between clients. Sanitiser will always be readily
available to use also.
I will use hand sanitiser before, during and after our sessions, and will have this available for your use as well.
All client wardrobe clothing, blankets, swaddles, props etc and thoroughly washed and disinfected prior to your session, and after as well.
I will always have a face mask on me at the time of our session and will follow the QLD regulations for mask wearing.
If at anytime we need to reschedule or change dates due to Covid19 restrictions, I am more then happy to follow your lead at when best will suit you and your family.
Hopefully this crazy year will be over before we know it and we can all get some normality back in our lives. Xx
I have a set amount of images included in my packages as it helps to keep my package prices lower and more affordable. I understand that sometimes it can be hard to choose a set amount of images from your gallery when you love them all – so I have put together an upgrade option for all sessions to include ALL images.
Upgrade anytime after viewing your gallery for $25 per extra image, or $150 for the entire gallery. This can be done at any time! For packages with multiple sessions like my bump to babe package – it is $150 per session or $250 for both to upgrade to all images.
If you have something specific in mind – but it is not listed on my website. Eg weddings, creative shoots etc.
Please contact me as I would love to chat and see if its something I can still offer you. I have experience in a range of shooting environments.
