Welcome to the world Baby George!

~

“A new baby marks the beginning of all things – wonder, hope and a beautiful dream of possibilities”

~

I wanted to bring you along for one of my newborn sessions.

Meet baby George and his Mama Jasmine and Dad Alan.

George is just 7 days new here during his session and was an absolute sweetheart.

Ideally I love photographing newborns between 7-10 days (this is usually their sleepiest period, they haven’t started cluster feeding as much and are quite settled when placed down – usually), however life happens, birth happens and we will make it work once you are ready and feel comfortable.

Firstly we start off my sessions with some feeding photos once everyone is dressed, and Bub has been disturbed a little bit. (If these are wanted – these can be either bottle or breast)!

I have a range of beautiful neutral knits for newborns which I will have a selection prepared for you, when you arrive to my studio. As well as any client closet pieces – all ready for you. Hank knitwear is my absolute fav for all of my newborn sessions. You can see little George here, head to toe in Hank Knitwear!

If baby falls into a deep sleep straight away I’ll move into individual images first, however if they are still a bit alert and unsettled – we will start with sibling and family photos. By the end of these but has usually finally fallen into a nice deep sleep – perfect for those sleepy, squishy images.

I love to capture all the little details during these moments as well – their little feet, hands, ears, little rolls. Whatever sweet little parts they are showing off.

Every so often we can sometimes get a little one that, no matter what we try. They just want to be awake and alert. That’s okay too – it just captured their cheeky little personality showing through already.

A little more to know about my newborn sessions.

  • There is no time limit on a newborn session – sometimes they can take 60 minutes and other sessions can take up to 3 hours. But the average to expect is about an hour and a half!
  • Babies love to feed a lot during their session, this is so normal. Especially when I’m constantly moving and re positioning them. (I promise they will sleep well for the rest of the day for you).
  • If you are bottle feeding / or expressing – make sure to bring some extra milk. Just in case.
  • Siblings are going through one of the biggest changes and adjustments of their little lives – there can be a lot of emotions, lots of bribes, lots of not wanting to cooperate. However rest assured – I do have lots of tricks up my sleeves to get them involved. And I have some toys ready for when it’s their turn for a break. Never apologise about their behaviour – I’ve been through this myself with my 3 babies. And I see it every week! 100% normal and it will get easier. I promise.
  • If a situation arises with babies health – eg Hip Dysplasia  – we can organise your session for either before or once they are out of their braces. I have photographed at all ages. And all the ages bring different little personality traits. (I am also happy to photograph them with their braces too!).

Thank you for trusting me with your precious babies, and thank you for all the baby snuggles. It makes my day every single time!

How perfect is little George and his beautiful family. This was such a sweet session!

A little message from Jasmine –

“We had the most beautiful experience during our newborn session. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely comfortable and at ease. Everything was handled with such care, patience, and attention to detail, which made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free even during the newborn crankiness haha.

What we loved most was how gentle and professional Lou was with our baby—every little detail was thought of, and the session never felt rushed. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed, and filled with so much love, which truly shines through in the photos.

We’re absolutely in love with the images we received. They captured our baby’s tiny features and sweet expressions in such a timeless and natural way—memories we’ll treasure forever.

We would highly recommend a newborn session to any new parents. Not only is it such a special experience, but the photos are something you’ll cherish for a lifetime. It’s a beautiful way to pause and celebrate those fleeting newborn moments.”
